Ana is a lighting planer based in Berlin. She mostly works on projects for studio dipol working on façade lighting, office buildings, museums and private residences. She studied furniture design but always seems to find herself surrounded by architects.
☞ CURRENTLY READING: East of Eden. I don’t know what they had us reading in high school but I seemed to have missed every single American classic. And seeing as I don’t think I opened a single book while getting my coveted fine arts degree, there is a whole lot that I haven’t read. And sexist undertones aside, I am truly loving John Steinbeck’s East of Eden. It’s a beautifully written, delicious soap opera and I can only recommend.
☞ RECENTLY WATCHED: The Guard. A goofy but really well done 2011 action comedy starring Don Cheadle and Brendan Gleeson. It’s got everything you could ask of a comedy, in my opinion.
☞ ARCHITECTURE: A recent project of mine has opened me up to the world of German expressionist brick facades, and I’m in love. There are so many of these gems littered all around the city. I would definitely check out some of them if you’re ever in Berlin, or at least have a look at google images:
☞ DRINKS: Victoria Bar on Potsdamer Strasse. This bar is like a fold in time. It makes me feel fabulous and 70’s. Also, it has great lighting.
☞ BIDETS: When we first moved into our new apartment, we were surprised to find that it had a bidet. This is not at all common in Germany, for those of you who might have thought it was. I have to say, I am a huge fan. It truly comes in handy in so many situations. On your period? Hop on the bidet. Big night out? Hop on the bidet. Just did sex but too lazy to shower? Hop on the bidet. There is the slight downside that our neighbor’s 5-year-old thought it was a tiny sink just for her, but no real harm done there. And I haven’t fully figured out the drying situation just yet. Are people using toilet paper or is like a hand towel type situation?
☞ HOT TAKE: I understand that this is likely not the right audience for this, but I’m kind of team Hailey. Or rather, there are no teams to be on, but I don’t understand why Selena Gomez would comment on a bunch of weird shit on Tik Tok about Hailey Bieber and then act shocked when it kicks up a bunch of hate.
