Celeste McEvoy is a (ceramic) artist, co-director of 3D Women platform and occasional curator, based in South East London.
☞ 3D WOMEN: Most importantly, I would like to recommend 3D Women. @3dwomenplatform Our core mission is to foster connections between artists, encourage collaboration + the sharing of experiences and ideas. 3D Women aim to offer a space where artists from all backgrounds (and working in various artistic mediums) can physically come together.
Check out our current exhibition, ‘B-Side’ at Coleman Projects, Bermondsey. A fantastic group of ten artists: Kelly Wu, Tiffany Wellington, Gem Bryant, Sally Barton, Maddie Banwell, Winnie Hall, Alexandra Ferreira and Hannah Billett. (until 02 June). We also have a monthly advice column, scheduled gallery trips and support groups (at Set Social, Peckham last Wednesday of every month).
☞ THE BERTHADOCHOUSE: The Berthadochouse is a bargain and a great thing to do in the spring drizzle. Off peak tickets are £5 and they have a great selection of documentary films. (The best ones I’ve seen recently are Love, Deutschmarks and Death + Ascension).
☞ ASKING THE IMPORTANT QUESTIONS: Like a) do big cats roam the countryside in the UK? b) did the Victorians put the stones of Stonehenge back in their original placement? I’m going to leave room for personal conclusions and speculation here. I know what I think.
☞ JEWELLERY Rosie Grace Ward’s Jewellery! I always get loads of compliments when I wear my worm. @ironknifechild + APOC store
☞ COLOUR CORRECTOR: Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment. If you have problems with your red face (like me), this colour correcting cream is amazing. Really helps to conceal my perpetually flushed cheeks.
☞ SUPPER CLUB: Who’s Hungry Supper Club (a monthly supper club for artists and creatives) just had it’s first event at Thames-Side Studios, Woolwich (28 March). The founder, Savannah du Quercy, provided some amazing food which I thought was incredible value for money. Tickets were offered at a suggested price of between 15 – 20 pounds (with a pay what you can option).
☞ TIP: Taking other people’s receipts they’ve left behind in Sainsbury’s local. A rare opportunity to sneak a glimpse into someone else’s life – strong recommend! Very interesting Oasis Summer Fruit, Lion Bar and Prawn Layer Salad meal deal combo in Holborn 20.03.24
☞ TELLY: Married at First Sight Australia on Channel 4. The perfect brain melting television programme to have on your laptop while you look at your phone.
♪ LISTENING TO: I’m a big fan of podcasts as I don’t ever want to be in danger of hearing my own thoughts. One of my current favorites is Heavyweight, hosted by Jonathan Goldstein. In each episode he helps a different person try to resolve a moment from their past that they wish they could change (not as dry as it sounds).
☠ HATES: Having to take a backpack to an event. So embarrassing :/
