Preslav Kostov is a Bulgarian-born, London-raised painter and odd-jobs executor. Podcast abuser and active noise cancellation advocate. Aspiring DIY-er.
☞ ADAM AND EVE PUB: “The everybody-can-have-a-go pool table at the Adam & Eve pub in Homerton”. For people bored, scared and silently competitive around an invitation to a game of pool. Cuter than a mini golf first date. Great pub, nice pints.
☞ ART OF DARKNESS: There’s nothing better than finding the cheeky details about artists personal lives away from their professional image. The deep dive into Francis Bacon’s life story. All gossip and no painting on the ingredients list.
☞ ANC HEADPHONES: My prized possession is a present from me to me from a few years ago. A pair of active noise cancelling headphones which spend more time on my head than not. It’s my mithril chainmail to the noise of London. I often don’t even listen to anything, just muffle the screech of the city.
☞ BARMOUTH ESTUARY: When the city gets too much for me, my favourite secret getaway is Barmouth Estuary. Situated between mountains, with a beach, river and plenty of cheap camping sites — it may just be the closest thing to heaven in Wales. I have made several week long camping trips here to recharge. Canoeing, gorge walking, jumping from waterfalls, pints on the sand, pints in the hills, walks down a grade two listed wooden railway viaduct spanning 900 yards. Nothing is better for me than stepping away from phone service and distractions and slowing things down.
Ps. Almost anything wrapped in several layers of tinfoil will cook great just tossed into a fire pit for 20 minutes.
